Who is an Inside Traveler?

To have the most fun on these trips you must be an Inside Traveler or have the desire to become one. Our trips are energetic and require the ability to walk for 3 hours at a time, taking small breaks. You have to like sightseeing (historic buildings, museums, beautiful landscapes), and a little boating and spelunking. Also, an Inside Traveler is adventurous and is ready to pack and go on the spur of the moment. She likes to observe the local scene: buses, traffic, people, crafts, and food. He is curious about and accepts differences, as well as having a preference to participate in small group activities. If, when you travel you would rather take the bus or the train instead of a taxi you are probably a true Inside Traveler. If you're interested in exploring and hiking, in an exciting adventure, and want to experience and learn more about the core of a culture: its people, food, religion, politics, language, arts, music, daily living, customs, habits, and entertainment, this trip is for you! On the other hand, if you just wish to stay at the beach or the pool, taking it easy, and resting, you're welcome to do this too! There is plenty to do at the beach!

My first time in Puerto Rico was a trip to a whole new world - from beautiful Old San Juan to the majestic rain forest El Yunque. My favorite place was La Parguera on the southwest side of the island, with its crystal clear blue water, interesting nightlife, and relaxing atmosphere. I only wish we had more vacation days.

Travel with Lila - Magnificent, Unforgettable We've hiked and climbed mountains of Alaska, British Columbia and Georgia and run the Freedom Trail in Boston, the capitol in Washington DC, the streets of Manhattan, the Italian market in Philadelphia, the sea wall in Vancouver and Joshua National Monument in California. We have shared stories with locals in the pubs and diners in Alaska, sampled one another' seafood with others (until then, strangers) sharing our table in a Boston restaurant, picnicked with alligators in the swamps and wild horses on Cumberland Island, found the world's best Neapolitan pastry in Greenwich (New York) and visited Monet's exquisite gardens through his art in Montreal. Travel with Lila is like a quest for rare and exquisite jewels in people and places that are, often, not written up in travel guides. With Lila, you'll find them. Our trip with Lila was truly one of our greatest experiences and one which we will always remember. We didn't just see Mexico, we experienced it from the inside and rubbed elbows with common Mexicans at local inns and popular local spots. We found out-of-the-way gems like our motel at Chichen-Itza. It had two pools and all the amenities of a five star tourist resort without the tourists.

We have been on trips with Lila to Cumberland Island, the Yucatan, and Puerto Rico. In every instance we saw the mainstream tourist attractions and still had time to take advantage of serendipitous events, like the local circus in Tulúm, Mexico. She was flexible in the agenda, so that individual tastes could be honored, like our wishes for more shopping and snorkeling. She has personally been to all the places she takes her women's groups, so she knows where the accommodations are secure, and the locations safe. Her trips are economical, yet you stay in places where the more affluent locals stay. We did not feel like we went on a guided tour; it was more like visiting a friend who showed us around.

My favorite trip with mami was a 3-week trip to Europe - it was FABULOUS! One of the best parts about traveling with her is that she does a lot of research about what to see, where to stay, where to eat in each city you visit before the trip. This saves tons of time and makes the trip so worry free. There is NEVER a dull moment on a trip with mami. She makes sure that you see ALL of the cool places - and she makes it so much fun!!!
